The West Wick Yacht Club was delighted to hold its annual trophy awards ceremony during the Annual General Meeting on November 23rd, recognising outstanding contributions from our members throughout the year.

New Trophies and Recognition

The awards ceremony featured the presentation of several new, updated trophies, purchased by the committee to replace older ones that were no longer fit for purpose. These awards celebrate the dedication and enthusiasm that make the WWYC a vibrant community.

Major Annual Awards

Three significant annual trophies were presented, each recognising a different form of commitment to the Club:

1. The Cruising Trophy

This trophy is awarded for recognised achievements, attendance, and support by a member or couple, selected by the incumbent Management Committee. The recipient(s) hold the perpetual trophy for the annual period and also receive a dedicated smaller presentation trophy to keep.

  • Winner: Paul & Jayne Bentley, Tiki

2. The Commodore Cup

This award recognises outstanding contribution, service, and achievements by a member of the Club, selected by the incumbent Commodore. The recipient receives the main trophy for the year and a dedicated smaller trophy to keep.

  • Winner: Mike Crocker

3. The Philip Magness Trophy

This inaugural award recognises outstanding contribution and service provided to the Management Committee and/or the Club Membership, selected by the Incumbent Trustee (Philip Magness). This trophy was named in recognition of Club Trustee Philip Magness's long and valuable service to the club since its creation.

  • Winner: Nick Parsons

Services to the Club

In recognition of their continued service and dedication to the Club, four members received a Club Tankard. These awards honoured individuals who have significantly contributed to the club's success, including former flag officers:

  • John Stephenson, former President (2019–2025)

  • Mike Crocker, former Hon Secretary (2023–2025)

  • Nick Parsons, former Commodore (2020–2025)

  • Gary Pollington, former Vice Commodore (2019–2023) (Collected on his behalf)

Special Recognition

A Special Award was presented to Commodore Andrew Rogers by former Commodore Nick Parsons, specifically to say thank you for his support and effort in re-establishing the club over the past year.
