West Wick Yacht Club News (Fitting out lunch 2023)

Hello Everyone,

The fitting out dinner and Winter Series 2022 prize presentation was held on Saturday 22nd April and we had a good crowd in attendance at the River Breeze Café & Bar, home of the West Wick Yacht Club.

We were made most welcome and as usual were served with a beautiful dinner cooked  to perfection including a choice of house wine, later on everyone was invited to a glass or two of fine port, curtesy of Del & Joan, a perfect way to finish a perfect afternoon.

Great Food and great company we couldn’t have asked for better.

Nick Opened the proceedings with a welcoming speech including a toast to our absent friends, after which he entertained us to how and what fitting out dinners & suppers were originally intended and used for, becoming a firm and important tradition of the Royal Navy and carried on by yacht clubs all over the country ever since. As well as rolling out a number of jokes and observations. Nick finished with the loyal toast to His Majesty King Charles 111.

The Winter Series 2022 prize presentations were presented by Mike Saward an ex Commadore of WWYC.

1st Prize went to Nick Parsons on Holly, 2nd Prize to Roy Hart on Greensleeves, & Third Prize went to Chris Hasler on Burglar.

Our winter series raffle raised £100-00, so a very BIG thank you to you all.

It is understood that we couldn’t put on our events without our valuable sponsors support.

So our grateful and sincere thanks go to:

John Stephenson of Anodes Direct.

Dave Nicholls of DRS Rigging.

Mike Bradley of the Rochford Day Nursery.

Rob Stockwell of Brookland Marine, who also very generously supplied six bottles of bubbly for our winter series celebrations.

Their generosity, help and support are most appreciated, we also hope they will consider sponsoring the 2023 winter series that will start in October.

Please see the club web site for all our 2023 series race dates.www.ww-yc.co.uk

We also have a number of cruises this summer starting on Saturday 29th April to Brightlingsea which weather permitting looks like being good fun and the start of many happy weekends.

For further details on all events being held this year please visit the club web site.

Once again, many thanks to all our Club members for all your help and active support in making the West Wick Yacht Club the friendliest combined sailing and power boat club on the Crouch.

It looks like being a good year. Onwards and Upwards.

Kindest Regards

The WWYC Team
