On November 23rd, 2025, the West Wick Yacht Club (WWYC) convened its Annual General Meeting at The Riverbreeze in Havens Marina, North Fambridge. The meeting marked a significant and forward-looking afternoon for the club.
A Tribute to Our History
The AGM began with a warm welcome from Commodore Nick Parsons. We were honoured to hear from our Club Trustee, Philip Magness, who shared a captivating speech on the history of the Club. Trustee Magness also read a letter from the Garget family, wishing the club continued success. Ken Garget was the original creator of the Fambridge Marina (Formaly West Wick Marina) and a founding member of the West Wick Yacht Club.

Review and Progress
In his Commodore’s Report, Nick Parsons reviewed the club's activities for the year, including cruises that were occasionally challenged by bad weather. He also thanked The River Breeze for their outstanding support in hosting our successful club dinners.
The Committee Report, presented by Committee Member Andrew Rogers, highlighted several key achievements and future plans:
Strengthening Foundations: The committee has focused on building the club's presence within the marina and establishing new, productive relationships with Havens.
Digital Connectivity: Work is underway to launch a new club website, designed to enable quicker and better contact with our membership.
Recognition: The committee also purchased new trophies to replace older ones that were no longer fit for purpose.
On the financial front, our Hon Treasurer Derek Brown confirmed that the club remains in a strong and secure financial position. The full accounts are currently awaiting an updated bank statement to complete the final auditing.

A Refreshed Constitution and New Leadership
A key item on the agenda was the adoption of an updated Club Constitution. Following discussion, a vote was taken and supported the committee's decision to no longer include the role of a Club President, reflecting the club’s current, smaller membership structure. The new Constitution now supersedes all previous rules and regulations.
The meeting also saw the unanimous election of the Management Team for the coming year:
Commodore: Andrew Rogers
Vice Commodore: Nick Jones
Rear Commodore: Marie Jones
Hon Treasurer: Derek Brown
Hon Secretary: Tom Rogers
Committee Member: Mark Garrett (Since stood down from Committee)
We are delighted that Club Trustee Philip Magness agreed to continue in his invaluable position. Commodore Nick Parsons formally handed the chair over to incoming Commodore Andrew Rogers at this stage.

Recognising Efforts and Future Planning
The AGM concluded with an awards ceremony that included the presentation of our new, updated trophies, focusing on recognising the efforts and contributions of our members. Furthermore, a Special Award was presented to Commodore Andrew Rogers. More details on all the winners will follow in a separate post!

The official AGM closed at 11:55 hrs. Following the formal meeting, a general non-formal discussion took place where members discussed various topics that the club could undertake and organise in the future. Magness also amassed a crowed while he showed a photobook of the history of West Wick Yacht Club.
We look forward to an excellent year under the guidance of our new committee.
