There is something truly magical about viewing our familiar waters through the eyes of fellow members. Last night, our clubhouse was filled with anticipation, laughter, and admiration as we gathered to celebrate the incredible talent within our community for our annual photo competition awards night.
The walls were adorned with breathtaking imagery showcasing the stunning River Crouch and beyond. From golden-hour sunsets that set the water ablaze to tranquil moments of stillness, the collection reminded us all why we share such a deep passion for these waters.
Honouring Our Winners
We had two fiercely contested categories this year, each highlighting a different side of our coastal life. A huge congratulations to our brilliant winners:
Wildlife and Environment Winner: Lorraine Bushell
Capturing the raw, natural beauty of our surroundings, Lorraine's winning shot featured a gorgeous sunset over Brightlingsea. (With Lorraine unable to attend in person, our Club Commodore proudly accepted the award on her behalf!)
Beauty of the Boat Winner: Jayne Bentley
Captured at Brandy Hole, Jayne’s stunning composition captured a sailboat resting on near-perfect reflected water, perfectly blending classic vessel aesthetics with absolute tranquility.
Prizes & Appreciation
To celebrate their incredible artistic eye, our winners went home with a wonderful bundle of prizes, including:
A special, high-quality framed print of their winning photograph to cherish.
A branded WWYC mug for those early morning brews on deck.
A decadent Lindor chocolate slab.
A fine bottle of wine to toast their success.
Thank you to everyone who submitted their work and turned out to make the evening such a resounding success. The standard of entries was exceptionally high, proving that our members are just as talented behind the lens as they are at the helm.
If you missed out this time, start keeping your cameras and phones ready—the next competition will be here before you know it!
